About the Festival

A cultural meeting point for movement, music, and heritage

About the Festival

The Kigali Breaking Festival is a vibrant cultural and artistic event that celebrates the energy, creativity, and unity of breaking (bboying/bgirling), urban dance, and traditional Rwandan cultural expression. Hosted in Kigali, the festival brings together dancers, artists, youth, and communities to share skills, express talent, and build connections through movement, music, and heritage.

By blending contemporary street dance with traditional cultural elements, the festival creates a unique platform where modern creativity meets cultural identity, fostering pride, inclusion, and cross-cultural exchange in Rwanda and beyond.

International Cultural Exchange

NASS Project Master Workshop at Institut Francais du Rwanda

International Cultural Exchange

A series of master dance workshops was led by a professional French choreographer from Le Phare, Centre Choregraphique National du Havre Normandie, based in Le Havre. Hosted at Institut Francais du Rwanda, this initiative was part of a strong partnership that brought international dance expertise to Kigali, fostering a unique cultural exchange and enhancing the festival's artistic offerings.

Supported by a project grant from the Embassy of France in Rwanda, the workshop gathered a total of 21 dancers who gained advanced skills, technical training, and artistic guidance.

In addition, the workshop contributed to regional integration by bringing together dancers from Rwanda and Tanzania, strengthening cross-border collaboration, cultural exchange, and unity within the East African dance community.
